Welcoming the Stranger – St Dominic’s Parish East Camberwell

The parish provides rental accommodation for an asylum seeker family for two years initially. This is a two bedroom unit nearby so that the asylum seeker family is within reach of the Camberwell Parish, allowing the parish to provide additional services to the family.  The parish aims to provide a level of support to a basic Australian community standard.  The family are responsible for paying utilities costs from their own capital,  contributing to establishing a positive credit history and providing an incentive to minimise costs.

The local St Vincent de Paul’s society, with the parish, helped with household goods and food vouchers as well as school clothing for the asylum seeker family.
