‘Jubilee’ Letter Campaign

CAPSA would like to encourage all of us to join together and participate in the Combined Refugee Action Group‘s ‘Jubilee’ letter campaign.

This campaign is in solidarity with numerous statements from various Christian organisations and groups such as the National Council of Churches, The Australian Catholic Bishops ConferenceCatholic Religious Australia, the Australian Churches Refugee Taskforce and other Jewish, Muslim and faith leaders who have issued recent statements asking for an act of clemency and a humanitarian solution to the situation offshore for refugees and people seeking asylum.

Step 1. Download the Jubilee letter template hereYou can alter or adjust it however you would like!

Step 2. Approach your parish, school, faith community, social justice group or organisation to sign on to this letter. If none of these are applicable to you, you can send it just from yourself.

There is no set time frame for this letter campaign; however the situation for those who are held in PNG and Nauru is now at a crisis point, and we should act as soon as we are able. Migrant and Refugee Week (19th – 25th August) is the perfect time to organise your community, group or organisation and speak out with a unified Catholic voice for compassion!

The ACMRO kit for this week can be found here – it is a comprehensive resource for discussion, prayer or reflection.
